BBC News presenter and Analysis Editor Ros Atkins has built a global audience through his viral explainer videos and works across the BBC’s digital, TV, and radio platforms.
Ros has anchored coverage for many of the biggest global stories including Brexit, COVID-19, the war in Ukraine and multiple US and European elections and has reported from all over the world.
He also co-presents The Media Show on BBC Radio 4, and in 2024 launched his podcast Communicating with Ros Atkins where he has interviewed the likes of Rob Brydon, Tina Brown and Martin Lewis. He has also sat in for Jeremy Vine on BBC Radio 2.
However, before his career in journalism, Ros was a passionate drum & bass DJ, inspired by legends like LTJ Bukem, Ray Keith, and DJ Hype.
In early 2022, Ros revisited his DJ roots with a Drum & Bass mix for BBC Radio 6 Music, which went viral and drew widespread media attention.
This led to a series of shows in London and a booking at 2024’s Glastonbury Festival, which generated viral buzz and widespread media coverage and cementing his return to the decks.
The success of his mix and his Glastonbury debut led to the creation of Ros Atkins’ Rave Machine, a celebration of the energy and diversity of Drum & Bass and rave culture. It debuted in central London, with Bladerunner joining Ros, and soon it was scaling up.
Ros Atkins’ Rave Machine packed out the 2025 Glastonbury Festival’s Stonebridge stage for three hours on the Thursday evening. It featured 15 minute sets from DJs including Danny Howard, Charlie Tee, DJ Rap, Kenny Ken, Crissy Criss and Andy Cato from Groove Armada - with Ros playing before and after each of them.
Ros also marked the ‘Thursday Feeling’ at the festival by joining forces with Crissy Criss to make an original track, The Festival Is Here, which sampled an interview Ros conducted with Emily Eavis, as well as voice notes sent in by listeners to Greg James’ Radio 1 show. Greg James introduced the track on stage at Rave Machine.
The Rave Machine show combines Ros’s curated selections from the 90s to today with music from some of the genre’s most renowned DJs and MCs - creating a high-energy, immersive experience. This is a party for those who’ve loved raving for years - and for those just discovering it.
